(Mar. 28th) – The promotion of Sardinia abroad continues towards a new frontier with considerable tourist potential. For its first time, the Italia region participates in the UITT of Kiev, the largest and most renowned trade show in Ukraine. The Sardinian operators accredited by the Department of Tourism (hotels and hotel chains, services, travel agencies and tour operators) will put on show, until tomorrow, the holiday offers on the island in the 19th edition of the ‘Ukraine International Travel & Tourism exhibition’. In the the last edition, there were 700 exhibitors from 45 countries around the world and approximately 25,000 operators. In the 2013 edition, it is expected a growth in numbers. The appointment in Kiev is the symbol of the development of new tourism channels, and the desire to travel and experience the world for a population of 46 million inhabitants, that in 2011 has made nearly twenty million trips abroad (and increase of 15% compared to 2010). Of those, over 10% (2,1 millions) were vacation travels, 70% organized tourism, and 30% independent tourists, which are growing rapidly thanks to the widespread use of the web in Ukraine. The trend is to organize the holiday via the Internet, in a limited space of time and aiming to ensure the maximum service at affordable prices. (Red)
