Apr. 24 – Professor Cosima Baldari, Director of the Natural and Human Sciences Department at the University of Siena, was welcomed as a member of AcademiaNet: the international network for the promotion of women in academic and scientific environments. In Europe, in universities and only 18% of leadership positions are held by women, despite their strong presence and participation in the most important projects. The Robert Bosch Foundation, the magazine Spektrum der Wissenschaft (the German translation of Scientific American) and the journal Nature founded in 2010 the AcademiaNet network to contribute to the empowerment of women in the world of science (Expert Database for Outstanding Female Scientists and Scholars, www.academia-net.org/). The organization aims to bring scientist women in leadership positions, making known to the media and to the international scientific environment their work and goals, promoting research quality and productivity.
