May 10 – Among the 2013 promotional schemes dedicated to Italian wine, ICE, the Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian firms, is organizing the participation of a group of Italian manufacturers to the next edition of Vinexpo (held in Bordeaux June 16–20). “France – according to a note from ICE – is a historic market for Italian wine. With its 1.1 million hectoliters of wine imported in 2011, amounting to over € 108 million (+25.7% compared to 2010) in value, it confirms itself as the 4th market in volume and the 7th in value, just behind Japan. This positive trend in value (+9%) was confirmed during the first half of 2012.” Vinexpo does not target solely the French market, as it had over 48,000 registered visitors from 148 countries in the 2011 edition, with 2,400 wineries from 47 countries. The trade fair, now in its 17th edition, quickly became a global showcase for the wine industry, being considered, in the world of business and international trade fairs, as one of the most important events dedicated to wine.
