June 3 – Italy bets on its food and wine sector to gain visibility in the Ukrainian emerging market. For the Italian Republic Day (June 2), the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Ukraine in Kiev hosted “Italian Days 2013.” The event promotes Made in Italy products, in particular via “FoodItalia” and “Clubitalia” thought especially to boost food & beverage and tourism. The project “FoodItalia” plans to open 25 stores (one for each region of Ukraine) that bring Italian food and wine directly to hotels, restaurants, shops, and supermarket chains. Italian producers will come together and found a consortium, with legal rights and obligations under Ukrainian law. In this way, they will send goods directly in the consortium Ukrainian, avoiding unnecessary mediation steps that raise prices too much. “The FoodItalia and Clubitalia projects, sponsored by the Ministry of Economic Development, Unioncamere and ENIT – explains Maurizio Carnival, president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Ukraine – have a very operational and commercial footprint. Maybe for other institutions this event could be considered a goal, but for us it is instead the starting point, the foundation upon which to build the real internationalization project of our companies.”
