June 26 – Sensitive to the needs of major wine players, the directions of Vinitaly and the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux (UGCB) have jointly decided to harmonize their calendars avoiding any date overlap between the “Semaine des Primeurs” in Bordeaux and Vinitaly in Verona, two first-class events traditionally held in early April. In this context, the respective directions agreed on the calendars for the next four years. Giovanni Mantovani, Director General of VeronaFiere, said: “In an era of market globalization, France and Italy are providing a concrete example of mutual recognition. UGCB and Vinitaly acted with realism, professionalism and common sense, in the interests of effectiveness.” For his part, Olivier Bernard, president of UGCB, pointed out: “For both our organizations, the main concern is to satisfy the expectations of our customers, be they European, American or Asian. It is our duty to provide concrete solutions, and now visitors can participate in both Vinitaly in Verona and the ‘Semaine des Primeurs’ in Bordeaux.”
