July 9 – Work on the construction of the Del Conca USA factory in Tennessee continues on schedule. 330 containers and special convoys loaded with high-tech Italian products are leaving the country in these days. For the Italian ceramics giant, this is an important contract – worth $30 million – in the preparation of the Group’s new American factory. These special plants with high technology (presses, furnaces, machines for digital coloring…) are essential for the production of high quality tiles and represent a confirmation of the Italian industry’s value in the world. After the long journey, the containers will be unloaded and, in September, the assembly work will begin, occupying a hundred people, mostly Italian skilled labor. “Thanks to our great tradition in the ceramic industry – said the CEO of Del Conca Group, Enzo Donald Mularoni – Italian technology is now able to meet all operational requirements at the international level and to support companies with complete engineering for the production of sophisticated articles.” Under an agreement signed in December 2012, the Del Conca Group bought a plot of 110,000 m2 on which 30,000 m2 will rise alongside an office building of 1000 m2 serving as showroom and administrative work. The construction works, which began in January and will end at the end of this year, resulted in 400,000 m3 of land moved, 30,000 m3 of concrete, and more than 1,000 tons of steel. Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation of the State of Tennessee is completing the road leading to the plant. It will be called the Del Conca Way in a show of attention for foreign businesses and investors. The hiring process, including an initial employment of 100 professionals, has already begun, and the start of production scheduled for the beginning of 2014 will allow to respond quickly and flexibly to customer orders in the US.
