July 26 – His art is very special, but has already encountered great success in various parts of the world. They call him the “painter of light” for his excellent ability to illuminate monuments by combining two ancient techniques, the magic lantern and the camera obscura. Gaspare Di Caro is also one of the five winners of the “Ragusani in the World” prize, scheduled on August 3 in Ragusa, in Piazza Libertà; his genius played works of art in different world cities. His greatest inspiration is to set up in Comiso (in the province of Ragusa and city of origin for his parents), courses in his art techniques, so as to transmit an art of which he is one of the few interpreters in the world. Di Caro was born in France in 1961, and he lived and studied in Nice, where he got in touch with a number of musicians; in this context, he honed his penchant for art and in particular for the study of light and the relationship with space. He trained in cinematography, literature and plastic materials. He has worked with Ettore Scola, shot two documentaries with Eugene Ionesco and Italo Calvino; for Mauro Bolognini, Federico Fellini and Samuel Beckett he wrote the new version of the script of “Film.” Di Caro traveled the world before settling in Brasilia, where he perfected his magic art, dealing with the architecture of Oscar Niemeyer. The combination of the two ancient techniques gives prominence to particular works of art and monuments, and the artist’s performances were admired all over the world, Spain, France, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, South America, and Cuba.
