Aug. 6 – Enel Green Power, through its Enel Latin America (Chile) Ltda subsidiary, has finalized a loan agreement for $100 million with Banco de Credito e Inversiones, intended to cover part of the next scheduled years’ investment plan for Chile. The loan, which will last 5 years and will be disbursed by 2013, is characterized by an interest rate in line with the market benchmark, and will be assisted by a parent company guarantee issued by Enel Green Power. In Latin America, Enel Green Power operates renewable energy plants in Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Chile and Brazil, with a total installed capacity of 990 MW to date. In the wind sector, in addition to wind power projects in Brazil for about 283 MW, Enel has plants in Costa Rica for 24 MW, in Mexico for 144 MW and in Chile for 90 MW, where it is also building the wind farm in Valle de Los Vientos (90 MW). Thanks to its secular experience in the field of geothermal energy, Enel Green Power is developing new opportunities in this area. In Chile, in particular, it is exploring various concessions with a potential for more than 100 MW.
