Aug. 23 – Cava de’ Tirreni and Delphi are two cities that are about to come together after centuries apart. The partnership was set in motion by a visit of Cava de’ Tirreni’s mayor, Marco Galdi, to Delphi, home of the Apollo oracle, to meet his Greek counterpart, Nikolaos D. Fousekis, and the vice-mayor, Ioannis Liritzis. Together, they made clear their interest in a cultural partnership that would bring together the two cities once again, after Cava de’ Tirreni hosted, in 1944, Greece’s exiled government. “It is a great honor, said Galdi, and an amazing priviledge for our city. I am certain that this partnership, the first in the Mediterranean for our city, and in such a delicate historical moment, will bring important cultural, economic and social developments.”
