Aug. 29 – Marco Mengoni in “#NonPasserai,” one of the tracks from his latest album, “#Prontoacorrere,” sings: “Tell me where this crossroads will take me.” Yet the singer, winner of the Sanremo Festival, has already chosen a road for himself: the road to success. Between singles and EP, he has sold more than 470,000 copies, he has won publications certified multi-platinum and gold albums, he’s been successful abroad, participating in the Eurovision Song Contest held in May in Sweden, and he’s internationally acclaimed, going from winning X Factor (third edition) to Best European Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2010. In Italy Mengoni is considered one of the most interesting singer-songwriters of the moment. Recently, Francesco De Gregori said: ” There are wonderful things about pop music today. For example there is Marco Mengoni who sings well and is putting a real artistic product out there.” And even abroad people start speaking of the “Mengoni phenomenon” with interest and curiosity. “#L’essenziale”, a song which has dominated the Italian charts after being presented at the Eurovision Song Contest, also featured in the top ten of international charts. In France, and precisely in Paris, the singer has decided to shoot his latest video for a single. The video, directed once again by Gaetano Morbioli, tells the story of the “Love Collector,” a strange character strolling through Paris with a big heart and a strange cardboard box on his head, asking to take pictures with everyone he meets. All consent and pose alongside this strange character who, we discover in the end, is the singer. The ” Collector ” takes away the box from the head as if to clear his thoughts. We then find him in a loft in Paris observing a wall displaying all the Polaroids he took. The images create a puzzle wrapped around the singer’s heart. The video is a tribute to France, a romantic postcard of a beautiful Paris told by the “mad king” that continues his journey in astonishment and delight.
