Aug. 30 – “For Enel Green Power, sustainability doesn’t just mean to build something with the support of others, but to create value for ourselves and others” : this is the motto of the Enel group, indicated by the administrator CEO Francesco Starace. A commitment that knows no boundaries, because EGP is among the leading providers in the field of power generation from renewable sources, with an annual production of 25 billion kilowatt-hours produced mainly from water, sun, wind and geothermal energy. The last chapter of this international project is in Brazil, where EGP, through the 2013 Brazilian Reserve Auction public tender, obtained the right to enter into three 20-year long contracts with the Brazilian Chamber of commercialization of electric energy ( CCEE Camara de comercializaçao by energy eletrica ) for the supply of three electricity generated wind power projects, with a total capacity of 88 MW. “The plants – said in a note Enel Green Power – are located in the State of Bahia, in the Northeast of Brazil, where the company already has over 146 MW under construction, thanks to an expansion project that EGP had already won in public procurements in 2010 and 2012. The three wind farms will require a total investment of about $163 million, and will be capable of generating more than 400 GWh per year, helping meet the growing energy demand of the country.” EGP’s wind projects has a capacity factor of over 50%, and the wind turbines can work for around 4,600 equivalent hours per year. Fulvio Conti, CEO of Enel, said that “this further success in Brazil is in line with our growth plans and reinforces the presence of the Enel Group in Latin America, a continent that is a cornerstone of our strategy, thanks to good economic and demographic growth and related increases in energy consumption.”
