Sept. 5 – A start-up for the intelligent management of large databases, useful in the field of market analysis, fraud and social networks is the winning design “made in Trento” that convinced investors, entrepreneurs, students and startuppers around the world to award it the special prize in the “VT Business Challenge.” The international competition for new business ideas was held in the United States at Virginia Tech. Just a few days ago, the ” GraphInsight ” team – composed of two students from the Department of Economics and Management and a PhD candidate in Information and Communication Technology at the University of Trento – presented its application with an innovative 3D visualization that enables analysts to obtain information more quickly and intuitively, enabling them to take better decisions and more informed choices. The idea behind ” GraphInsight ” had already been recognized and had already received an award at the MIM Business Challenge, a competition organized by the Department of Economics, University of Trento, and InnovAction Lab, by Trento RISE. The two institutions chose to financially support the participation of their young student- entrepreneurs in the US competition in Virginia, bringin Trentino’s entrepreneurial spirit on the international agenda. In fact, a recent report by the European Commission moves Trentino up a position in its regional competitiveness ranking. And the success in the U.S. is only the latest in a series of success stories brought back by the students at the Department of Economics and Management of Trento: two other teams of students won similar competitions in Russia (the ” Marketing Challenge” ) and in Connecticut, USSA (the “CiberCase Challenge 2012”).
