Sept. 9 – Italians Marco Melandri and Roberto Rolfo were called to be part of the new Security Commission for Superbikes, established by the International Motorcycling Federation, headquartered in Mies, Switzerland. The members of the Committee, whose establishment was requested during last week’s summit at the Silverstone Grand Prix, were selected by vote today and will represent all Superbike, Superstock and WSS pilots. The members will attend meetings and consultations on racing safety, also meeting to consider any proposed changes that may increase security levels, and to discuss issues and procedures related to Championship regulations. The proposal to create a committee made up of only pilots came as a reaction to the dramatic incidents which recently occurred in different series.
