Sept. 10 – Cooperation between Sardinia and the Middle East market was originally initiated by the Sardinia Regional Promotion Agency, which had the double goal of attracting investment and internationalizing local businesses. In April, a group of leading hotel operators from Gallura participated in a four-day mission to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, getting excellent visibility and numerous contacts with media and tour operators in the UAE. The promotional activities continued with a mission by President of the Region Ugo Cappellacc, who in August visited the Emirates. He participated in numerous institutional and commercial meetings, with Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of the Government, with the head of investment funds and real estate companies that expressed interest in the possibility of developing Sardinia areas as alternatives to popular tourist destinations and in activating working relationships with the regional productive sector. Two delegations of Emirati investors are now in Sardinia to further explore the investment opportunities offered by Sardinia and to assess forms of collaboration with local industries.
