Sept. 19 – “Road to South Africa”: the Emilia Romagna region is preparing for a new adventure and mission. Eleven companies – including six members of Confindustria Modena – are looking to one of the major emerging markets and are preparing to participate in “Bauma Africa,” where companies reunite to talk mechanical construction. In Johannesburg until September21, the event – at its first edition – is already a point of reference for construction machinery, building material machines, mining and construction vehicles. About 200 exhibitors will have available a display area of 20,000 square meters. It should be noted that in 2012 Italy -South Africa bilateral trade amounted to €3.75 billion. In particular, exports between South Africa and Emilia-Romagna companies reached €379 million, of which €87 million exclusively with the Modena province. The most exported products are mechanical equipment and machine tools. To further enhance the trade potential with South Africa, Emilia companies are seeking local business partners and on-site production opportunities, with Confindustria Modena and Confindustria Emilia-Romagna implementing the “Road to South Africa project. The initiative is funded for 50 percent by Emilia-Romagna and sponsored by BNL – BNP Paribas Group. The project is part of a process that began in September 2012 and it provides to all participating companies the opportunities, knowledge and tools to understand and operate in the South African market in the most efficient and dynamic ways. The economic mission specifically provides for the participation of Emilia Romagna companies operating in the construction industry and industrial automation in the first edition of Bauma Africa.
