Nov. 15 – A small Italian ‘masterpiece’ on the pages of the New York Times, Masterpiece is the first live show dedicated to literature, produced by FremantleMedia and RAI in partnership with RCS. The original format was ideated by the Italian Lorenzo Mieli for Fremantle, who says: “On the one hand we have writers who have already written a novel, even though it’s not published, on the other we have aspiring novelists who are willing to test their writing skills by participating in immersive experiences. Overall, the show is a mix of talent and experimentation. Set in a brand new study in the Rai Production Centre of Turin, the show will be aired in Italy from 17 November on RAI-3. The winning participant will see his or her manuscript published by Bompiani and Rai Eri, in collaboration with Corriere della Sera, which will distribute the winning novel in bookstores and on newsstands, with an initial print run of 100.000 copies. Aspiring writers have a vocation for literature, representing a different Italy that finds in words and texts a way to define itself.
