Dec. 2 – Puglia is center stage once again in the international music scene thanks to a vocal quartet composed by Serena Fortebraccio, Gabriella Schiavone, Maristella Schiavone and Teresa Vallarella, better known as Faraualla. Their voices are the means to transmit the culture and tradition behind their original compositions. Faraualla is a group capable of diving into vocal expressions of different ethnicities and in different historical periods; a group that can accompany the audience in a charming and fascinating journey through distant cultures that come together in an original synthesis of the group’s cultural roots. What is certain is that the four ladies are extremely keen on displaying their Puglia origins and typical Bari “sound” via the instruments that accompany the execution and the name of the group. The all-female quartet can now celebrate a new success confirming once again the extraordinary quality of the Puglia music: “Ogni Male Fore” was published on May 10 by the label Digression Music with the support of Apulia Sounds Record. The album ranked 33rd in the World Music Chart Europe of the 50 best international record productions of 2013. “Ogni Male Fore” is the only Italian record in the ranking. World Music Chart Europe is the reference point for the European music scene, a prestigious international ranking whose jury is composed of 49 music journalists from 24 countries, who every month draw up a ranking published on www.wmce.de and transmitted by several European radio stations. The album “Ogni Male Fore” (in the ranking since August 2013) is the fourth album by a Puglia artist to enter the World Music Chart Europe, after “Taranta Nera,” by l’Officina Zoe, “Casa” by Radicanto feat. Raiz and “Pizzica Indiavolata” by Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino. “Ogni Male Fore” is FAraualla’s fifth studio album and highlights pagan aspects of popular Puglia culture: fervent religiosity, the practice of magical or miraculous medicine linked to the knowledge of healing herbs. Each track brings to life different aspects in an ideal path to physical and spiritual healing. The record sees the participation of Cesare Pastanalle on percussions, a rhythm bass section by Angelo Pantaleo and drums with Pippo D’Ambrosio. Three additional guests are Nando Di Modugno on guitars, Davide Viterbo for the cello, and Marisa Eugeni as the narrator.
