Dec. 16 – With over three thousand spectators Cinema Italian Style wins over Los Angeles. The festival will run until Jan. 4, when Ettore Scola’s latest movie will be shown to the public. “Che strano chiamarsi Federico” will be screened at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica along with “Otto e mezzo.” Both films follow a general theme of this year’s edition, which had the remembrance of Fellini’s death as its core principle. The event offered to the LA public many cultural moments, from the opening night with “La Grande Bellezza” by Paolo Sorrentino (recent winner of the EFA), in the race for the Golden Globes for Best foreign film. The Hollywood premiere was attended by Bernardo Bertolucci, Paolo Sorrentino, Jasmine Trinca, Kasia Smutniak, Claudia Gerini, Maria Sole Tognazzi and Roberto Andò. Cinema Italian Style welcomed Bernardo Bertolucci for the screening of his “The Last Emperor” in a restored 3D version at the Chinese Theatre, made possible thanks to a collaboration with the AFI Film Fest 2013. The festival also held a Master Class at UCLA coordinated by Lorenzo Soria, journalist member of the HFPA, and moderated by Bob Rosen, dean emeritus and professor at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Bertolucci also visited for the first time his star on the Walk of Fame.
