(Dec. 20) – In 1986, Italian songwriter Lucio Dalla dedicated to him a song became a hit worldwide and today considered a classic of the Italian Canzone. Last year, the RAI aired a fiction about his life: a story of an Italian migrant, a talent, an artist. A museum in the province of Florence collects objects owned by him and an asteroid has his name. And today, a crater on Mercury has been dedicated to him, because Enrico Caruso is not a just a tenor: he is the tenor. The new award comes from the science world: from December 16th, in fact, a crater on Mercury is called “Caruso” thanks to the effort Mario D’Amore, a young astrophysic who is researcher at the DLR (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V) in Berlin. D’Amore collaborates in the NASa mission named “Messengere”, actually on the planet. This special award confirms how the myth of Caruso is still alive, more than ever, as other Italians who are representing the Italian culture in the world, such as Anna Magnani, Renata Tebaldi, Sophia Loren, Andrea Bocelli and Arturo Toscanini, who have – as Caruso – a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
