Jan. 2 – Parmigiano Reggiano, in its simplicity, has conquered the world. Trading flows doubled between 2007 and 2013, and Parmigiano Reggiano exports continue with a positive sign. The data gathered by the Consortium speaks for itself: +4 % at the end of September 2013, with a year-end forecast around 45,000 tons produced. In other words, over 1,100,000 cheese forms, 34% of those produced in 2011, will be marketed this year. “A more than satisfactory trend – said the President of the Consorzio del Parmigiano Reggiano, Giuseppe Alai, – which is accompanied by resilient domestic consumption and a 7.4% decrease in physical stocks at the end of October 2013 compared to the same month of 2012.” International markets remain a priority in 2014 for the Consortium, with investments that reach €6 million. “In the European countries – said Alai – we will aim to further consolidate these trade flows that continue to grow at a good pace, but at the same time we will put in place new promotional activities in emerging economies, where growth and consumption habits are moving towards natural products. To this regard, the trademark registration procedures were recently completed in Russia and China, thus allowing for more effectively support of exporters’ commercial actions.” And €4 million have been set aside to support exporting businesses’ in their promotional activities.
