Feb. 28 – The Italian-led international mission KFOR sees its numbers strengthened thanks to Austrian Minister for European and International Affairs, Sebastian Kurz’s commitment to KFOR commander, General Salvatore Farina, to bring Austria’s units to 500 by mid-2014. Austria currently contributes over $ 350 billion, but during the course of the meeting the two men discussed the recent mayoral elections in Mitrovica, which were carried out without incidents, and the upcoming parliamentary elections in Serbia. General Farina emphasized “the excellent work done by KFOR in collaboration with international and local security organizations,” and expressed words of appreciation for Austrian KFOR contingent and its professionalism. Farina then thanked the Austrian Minister for the new contribution to the mission.
