Apr. 18 – May 14 couldn’t come any sooner, as everyone awaits the beginning of the 67th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. Yesterday, artistic director Thierry Frémaux unveiled the 18 films in competition. And quality Italian cinema has made the cut: “Le meraviglie” by Alice Rohrwacher is Italy’s only film in competition; but Asia Argento’s “Incompresa” will be screened in the section “Un Certain Regard.” Trentino will also proudly represent Italy with “L’Avanposto,” shot entirely in the region by Leonardo Di Costanzo for the collective movie “I ponti di Sarajevo,” presented in section “Special Screenings.” The movie, created with the participation of great European directors under the artistic direction of Jean -Michel Frodon, recounts the drama of soldiers at the front and reconstructs their experience during the Great War. The movie is being released in coincidence with the centenary of the First World War.
