San Diego – Sabina Universitas takes part in the most important world congress of experimental biology, Experimental Biology 2014, held in San Diego, United States, April 26-30. The Italian institution will present its study on “PrPc associates with a multimolecular complex including LRP1 and Glycosphingolipids within lipid rafts,” which seeks to shed light on the basic mechanisms involved in several fatal neurodegenerative diseases. Researcher Vincenzo Tasciotti will present the study he developed at the Laboratory of Experimental Medicine and Environmental Pathology set up in 2005 with investment from the Sabina Universitas consortium and the Lazio Region. The lab is directed by Maurizio Sorice and coordinated by Vincenzo Mattei; it carries out numerous projects, including a scientific collaboration between Sabina Universitas, La Jolla University in San Diego and the University of Rome La Sapienza. Together, they research the how PrPc and LRP1 affect neurodegenerative diseases. (9Colonne)
