Apr. 24 – In the Marche, the ancient work of cobbler has become a source of excellence and a wealth for the region and for Italy. Abroad, Italian shoes are increasingly Made in Marche, a region known for its inventiveness, skill in using materials, design abilities, and respect of tradition. Marche footwear is heading to Istanbul, as “Turkey is a big market with about 75 million inhabitants, relatively close to Italy and with very high growth rates. The positive trend in per capita income registered in the country makes it particularly attractive for the production of our medium-high quality footwear,” said Gian Mario Spacca, President of the Marche Region, while commenting on the participation of 14 footwear companies at “AYMOD.” The exhibition was opened yesterday and will close its doors on Saturday at the Expo Center in Istanbul. The Marche Region – in collaboration with the Marche Chambers of Commerce – organized the mission, as it is part of the Region’s internationalization strategy to support and promote the activities of the Marche enterprises – particularly SMEs – in global markets. “Last year, exports to Turkey registered an excellent performance in the footwear and leather sector, growing by 28% – continued Spacca – we therefore strongly support the presence of Marche enterprises in this exhibition, for the positive outlook to an economically dynamic and interesting country.” The Marche group participates to the event in the Italian area set up by Assocalzaturifici, where there are 28 total businesses, of which half from the Marche.
