May 2 – “Everything exists in the word” used to say Chilean writer Pablo Neruda describing the strength and power of words. Several years later, the Roman director Nanni Moretti emphasized the same concept in what has become one of the most famous quotes of Italian cinema: “Le parole sono importanti” (Palombella Rossa, 1989). And just like in the past, it is important to continue thinking about words and their correct use in the Italian language. An opportunity to do as much comes from the Italian Institute of Culture in Madrid, which organized for Friday, May 9 at 11am, a conference with Paola Tiberii. Tiberii will present he “Dictionary of collocations: Word combinations in Italian” published by Zanichelli two years ago. The dictionary, created by the author and translator, was born from the need to have a repertoire of combinations of words – practical and easy to consult – to develop and enrich the lexical competence and language used in everyday life. With a choice of approximately 200,000 collocations, or combinations, the dictionary allows to find the right expressions to communicate in an accurate, elegant and incisive Italian.
