May 28 – Luca and Gustav are two Italian guys who have seen many of their friends leave, for Berlin, London, Barcelona because they were tired of Italy’s cost of living, job insecurity and lack of meritocracy. Gustav believes leaving is the best thing to do, while Luca wants to convince him that Italy is still a country full of good reasons to stay. The question then is: to flee or to resist? Before making their final decision, they give themselves six months to see if it is still possible to re-fall in love with Italy. They decide to take a trip with an old Fiat 500 across the country. They go in search of the stories, anecdotes, and characters that are still iconic abroad. Young people, job security, and “new migration” are the ingredients of the documentary “Italy: love it or leave it ” by Gustav Hofer and Luca Ragazzi, which will be screened Tuesday, June 10 to 7pm at the Italian Institute of Culture in Brussels. The screening is part of the exhibition “For a cinema of the real: Italian documentary.” Director Luca Ragazzi will meet the public at at the end of the movie.
