Sydney – Sport in general always creates national myths on victory, tragedy, and rebirth. And the conference “What does Italian football say about Italy?” by Professor John Foot of the University of Bristol on July 29 at 6pm at the Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney, will use new theories on national identity to examine in what way Italian football has transformed Italy in the 20th century, and how it helps understand a nation and it rule of law. In particular, the conference will focus on the 1982 World Cup. (9Colonne)
