June 27 – The Festival Prague Days of the Clarinet is about to kick off (July 1-14), and the Italian Clarinet Quartet will be a part of it. On July 2 at 7pm, the Italian Institute of Culture in Prague will host the Quartet, composed by Giovanni Lanzini, Carlo Franceschi, Maurizio Morganti and Augustus Lanzini. Founded in 1985, the Quartet immediately sought to enhance the role of the clarinet in the context of chamber music, and in more than twenty years of activity, the group has performed in numerous international tours, hundreds of concerts, and major music festivals. Their repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary music, with a particular inclination for ethnic culture. The Quartet’s last record is “Rags, Swing & Songs,” an easy-going journey through American music. The album covers music from Warren / Goldon, Joplin, Bolling, Berlin, Mancini, Waller, Gershwin, Weill, Nelson, Randolph and Duke Ellington; it was recorded in the SAM Lari studios in Pisa. From 6:30pm until the beginning of the concert, the IIC offers guided tours in English of its headquarters.
