Shanghai – The first global scientific society specializing in infectious diseases and immunology has been established. The structure now involves different organ specialists who deal with children, adults and seniors. Waidid, based in Milan, was created to promote initiatives that enhance scientific research on infectious diseases and immunological disorders at the national and international level, and to raise public awareness about these diseases. The association made its debut during the Respiratory Experts Forum in Shanghai, which ended yesterday. “In industrialized countries, recurrent respiratory infections (IRR) affect more than 25% of newborns and 18% of children between 1 and 4 years old,” says Susanna Esposito, president and CEO of Waidid’s Pediatrics High Intensity Care Unit.
