July 17 – Ginevra Molinelli, Lucia Lucchini, Iulia Petria, Federico Fatone, Edoardo Lanfranchi and Lorenzo Mangone are ready to move from the textbooks to the laboratories, taking their first steps into the research world. The unique, formative and stimulating experience they are about to live will take them to Israel. These high school students from Milan, Monza and Domodossola were selected among the 20 winners of the “Una settimana da ricercatore 2014” contest, by CusMiBio (the center for the dissemination of Biosciences). They will participate in the World Conference on Science scheduled in Jerusalem August 16-21. The prestigious CusMiBio award (directed by Paolo Plevani, Professor of Molecular Biology of the University of Milan), this year celebrates the ten years of activity of the center. Its goal has always been to raise awareness on the research world among high schoolers, and spark interest in science subjects. For the six young winners – who will be accompanied by Cinzia Grazioli, science teacher at CusMiBio – it will be an extraordinary opportunity to participate in classes and meetings with 20 Nobel prizes in scientific and technical disciplines alongside another 300 outstanding students from all over the world.
