Camp Zafar – Soldiers of the Italian contingent in Afghanistan built, at “Camp Zafar”, a C-IED training area (Counter Improvised Explosive Device) in which Afghan security forces will be able to practice techniques to deal with IEDs. The project is part of the initiatives promoted by the Italian contingent for the military capabilities development of the Afghan Security Forces (ANSF) and ultimately aimed at the acquisition of their full autonomy. The process will be completed by the end of the year. The training area includes a multimedia classroom in which Afghan soldiers will learn how to operate safely. Practical activities will be carried out in the “C-IED Training Strip,” an area specially designed for the detection and recognition of various types of weapons and first aid and evacuation of any wounded exercises.
