(Aug. 4) Italy as a model to reform the mental health system in Serbia. In recent days, in Novi Sad, a group of psychiatrists from Friuli Venezia-Giulia, led by Director of the Department of Mental Health of Trieste, Roberto Mezzina, and Firector of the Psychiatric Service of Udine Nord, Renzo Bonn, met with the Serbian colleagues of mental health facilities in Serbia Novi Knesevac, Sombor and Curug. “Exporting good practices such as those that put Friuli Venezia-Giulia at the absolute top of everything related to mental health – said Regional Minister for International Cooperation, Gianni Torrenti – should be considered as a primary mode for cooperation. In fact, it should be emphasized that beyond the rationalization of the system, the reform of the sector has ensured dignity and respect to the people who were internalised in asylums.”
