(Aug. 8) From August 10 to 17, in Zakopane, it is scheduled an European trade fair of regional products. The region of Veneto will participate in the event with a large exhibition space, presenting also its proposals for religious tourism following the “Via di Karol.” The mission in Zakopane, organized by the Circuito Wigwam and the Consortium Marca Treviso, project leader of religious tourism in the Veneto, will be accompanied by a selection of excellent food and wine from the region, developed with companies, cooperatives and consortiums that joined the mission itself. The region of Malopolska (literally Little Poland), where there is Krakow, the city of which the future Pope John Paul II was bishop, and where there was Auschwitz – Birkenau, is perhaps the area in which the better traditions, folklore and Polish agri-food products are concentrated. But it is also an area where there is a strong Christian faith, which today has its reference in John Paul II. His figure is protagonist of the “Via di Karol”: a path of devotion, art and spirituality which connects Wadowice (birthplace of John Paul II), near Krakow, and Rome. Veneto is right in the middle of this route and it has in common with Malopolska a strong sense of popular faith and several sacred places of enormous importance.
