(Aug. 13) Yesterday, two Canadair returned to Italy for the end of the Forest Fire Sweden mission, which began last August 4 in Ciampino. The Swedish government forwarded the request for help through the activation mechanism of the European Union. Canadair intervened to quell a fire of vast dimensions that affected the Sala and Surahammar municipalities in southern Sweden. “Italy – reads a statement by the Civil Protection Department – sent two Canadair and a staff of 14 units with eight pilots, four technicians, a COAU operator (the Unified Aircraft Operations Center of the Civil Protection Department), and a representative of the National Fire Service.”
