(Sept. 30) October 3, 2013 is a date that stays in our memory like a thorn. A year after the wreck occurred just a few miles from the port of Lampedusa, which cost the lives of 368 migrants, the Italian Cultural Institute in Marseille commemorate this tragedy by inaugurating on the same day a path consisting of three exposures. The project aims to emphasize the drama of these events but also the human dimension of hospitality and sensitivity to the cultures of migrants. Some of the pages of Homer’s Odyssey, read by actor and director Orlando Forioso, will accompany the visitor during the inauguration. With these readings, the artist wants to make a similarity between the journey of Odysseus and the one, full of dangers and uncertainties, of migrants, even though they, unlike the Homeric hero, do not return home but try to start to start a new life full of difficulty and obstacles in a new land.
