Oct. 14 – “It’s the story of a great man who didn’t bow to the pressures of his time. It’s a tribute to the founder of Futurism, poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti. Without him there the futurism that is today appreciated and acclaimed all over the world wouldn’t have existed. In Italy, in the past, the movement was vilified and slandered.” Says Massimiliano Finazzer Flory, actor, playwright and theater director born in Monfalcone 50 years ago. Finazzer Flory lives and works between Milan and New York, where this summer he directed the film “Marinetti a New York.” The film, directed and starring Finazzer Flory, focuses on the first vanguard movement born in Italy: Futurism. The trailer (available on YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/marinettinewyork) was presented in New York on the occasion of Columbus Day. Finazzer Flory says that the film rebuilds “the atmosphere of early 20th century, as it was perceived by Futurism.” The film is inspired by the theater show by Finazzer Flory “Grand Futurist Evening,” which recently toured the United States. The show was staged at Lincoln Center in New York, in conjunction with the Guggenheim Museum exhibition dedicated to Futurism. The movie is co-produced by the television production company i-ItalyTV, directed by Letizia Airos in New York, and in collaboration with Gtech and Gioco serio dell’Arte. “Marinetti a New York” will be broadcast in November by “i-ItalyNY” on NYCTV – Channel 25 (the official television station of the City of New York). It will then take over Italian cinemas in December. (Gil)
