Valencia – After more than four years, nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi began the race from the pole position and crossed the finish line of the Grand Prix de la Comunitat Valenciana in second place, claiming the title of Vice-Champion 2014. Rossi was surprised by Andrea Iannone’s (Pramac Racing) incredible overtake with his GP14.2 but the Pesaro-native knew the race was a partnership with his team-mate Jorge Lorenzo. In the early moments of the race, Iannone’s Ducati was even able to gain a small margin, but Rossi and Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) were able to catch up with him. Rossi tried in vain to keep up with the 2014 World Champion, but Marquez set the record with 13 seasonal wins while Rossi reached the podium for the 13th time in 18 races, thus receiving the title of Vice-Champion with 295 points. “I’m glad to close this season with such a good race. The feeling I had today was strange, the conditions were uncertain and therefore difficult to evaluate. We worked well, and leaving Valencia having won a pole position and a second place is a great result for me. We will do our best to continue the same trend next season”. (9colonne)
