Beijing – Italian sparkling wine knows no crisis, and in 2014 it marks its historical record for bottles consumed abroad. Exports grew by 24% in just one year, four times the growth rate recorded by champagne (+6%) in the same period. A Coldiretti analysis estimates that approximately 350 million bottles of Italian sparkling wine were shipped abroad in 2014. Since the onset of the crisis in 2007, Italian bubbles increased their exports by 180%, expanding their presence on consolidated markets but also conquering new ones, from Russia to China. The noteworthy achievements in new markets are: the record growth in exports to China, where Italian sparkling wine consumption doubled (+106%) compared to last year. (9Colonne)
