Nov. 13 – Yesterday began the 21st World Ceramic Tiles Forum, an annual gathering of tile producers created in 1994, organized this year in Shanghai by the China Building Ceramics and Sanitaryware Association. Until Saturday 15 representatives from Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine and North America will take part in the event. Together, these countries account for about 90% of global ceramics production. Representing Italy there is a delegation led by the Confindustria Ceramics president, Vittorio Borelli, and the President of the European Federation of Ceramics, Alfonso Panzani. The event, held at the Westin Bund Center Shanghai, will focus on four main themes: economic situation, standardization of products, sustainability, and promotions. The aim is to illustrate and discuss the state of the economy and the performance of the ceramic industry in different countries via industry presentations made by each participating country. In particular, in terms of international standardization, delegations will discuss progress made since the last plenary session, held in Clemson last July; in the field of sustainability, the delegations will discuss the achievements and developments in globally shared EPD product category rules.
