Wien – From today to February 8th, the Stanze del Vetro – a permanent exhibition space, designed by Annabelle Selldorf Architects of New York, located on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, in Venice, and dedicated to the art glass – and the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice organizes at Mak – Museum of Applied Arts in Wien the exhibition “Santillana” dedicated to the glass works of Laura de Santillana and Alessandro Diaz de Santillana. Autonomous sculptures and anthropomorphic forms dominate the work presented by Laura de Santillana in Wien. The paintings of Alessandro Diaz de Santillana, however, recall the history of the blown glass windows and the effect of antique “blind” mirrors. In addition, a video gives visitors the chance to see and understand how the glass master and his assistants work within a furnace. The opening of the exhibition will take place in conjunction with the Wien Art Week 2014. (9Colonne)
