Frankfurt – The international jury of the biennale “International Highrise Award,” sponsored by the Museum of Architecture in Frankfurt (DAM), the City of Frankfurt and DekaBank, announced that the Vertical Forest of Milan won the prize for most beautiful and innovative building in the world. The prize went to the Vertical Forest for its charge of innovation, for having brought 800 trees and 14.000 plants in the Milan sky. Designed by Boeri Studio and developed by Hines Italia sgr in the district of Porta Nuova, Vertical Forest impressed the judges, and Jury President Christoph Ingenhoven commented: “the Vertical Forest is an expression of the human need for contact with nature. It’s a radical and courageous idea for the cities of the future, and it certainly represents a model for the development of high population density areas in other European countries.”(9Colonne)
