Nov. 20 – Dizzying swing and jazz-rock rhythms reminiscent of the early 1970s: this is Paolo Fresu’s music, which will go on stage in Munich on Thursday, December 11 as part of “New York im Bayerischen Hof”. Hotel Bayerischer Hof’s Night Club is hosting the event, promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of the city. Alongside his trumpet, Fresu brings his historic group: Bebo Ferra (guitar), Paolino Dalla Porta (bass) and Stefano Bagnoli (drums). The Sardinian musician – a student of Enrico Rava’s – always flirted with different genres: bebop, ballads, soul jazz or fusion. His distinctive qualities are great technical ability and musical expertise; with his “Devil Quartet,” Fresu manages to exhaust a wide tonal spectrum, showing great expressive power and virtuosity. Fresu can bring the modern elements of fusion music into a harmony of sounds that remains unaffected by the use of electronics in music. Fresu lives between Paris, Bologna and Sardinia; and is active in a myriad of projects, performing more than two hundred concerts per year, in almost every part of the globe. (red)
