Dec. 11 – The most recent market trends confirm the importance of exports in generating revenues for Italian companies operating in the electrical engineering and electronics sector. Estimates by Anie (the National Electrical Association) predict for 2014 a 1.4% increase in exports compared to 2013. These results were hinted during the Open Day International Activities promoted by Anie Confindustria, now in its second edition, hosted at the Milan ICE Offices (ICE – the Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian firms). Today’s event was an opportunity to reflect and bring together leading experts to map the new world growth trends that have appeared in emerging markets, giving ample space to the sectors in which Anie companies operate: energy, oil & gas, industry, construction and rail transport. The conference was also the occasion to present the full program of international initiatives planned by Anie for 2015. The analysis shows that exports strengthened, even in an uncertainty context for the international economic scenario, positively impacting the performance of the sector’s total turnover. The geographical areas identified as the most promising for the electrotechnical industry, there are the United States, leading exports with a share of 10.8% in 2014. For the electronics sector, the situation is shifting towards Eastern Asia, the only destination market that registered a sensible increase in exports. Moreover, according to a recent survey conducted by Anie’s Research Department, for a representative sample of associated SMEs, foreign sales provide a crucial stability. The first half of 2014, compared to the second half of 2013, saw 71.4% of Anie companies claim that the volume of exports had either increased or remained stable. The estimates for the second half of 2014, compared to the first half of the year, are even more encouraging: for 53.1% of sample companies, foreign sales are increasing, while 34.7% remained stable.
