Dec. 17 – The French complex accelerator Spiral2 has an Italian heart: the neutrons converter will be used for the production of radioisotopes for research and medicine. It was delivered by the Legnaro (Padova) of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics to the Caen laboratory in Normandy. The device was conceived and designed entirely in the National Institute of Nuclear Physics laboratories dby the Strumenti Scientifici Cinel of Vigonza, a small business based in Padua. The project is part of a research collaboration between Italy and France for nuclear physics: the Legnaro laboratories designed and built the neutron converter, while the French are realizing the charge breeder, which will be installed in Legnaro.
