Dec. 19 – Grana Padano conquered the land of the Samurai, thanks to an approval rating of 90% of the public, the participation of the main central government authorities, the attention of the most important companies in the territory (from Toyota to Matsuzakaya Department Stores) and of the Japanese media (with the first page of the Mid-Japan Economist), a promotional partnership agreement for 2015 with Nagoya Television (Asahi Group) and 6,200 visitors (10% of total admissions). These are the figures and data from Consorzio Grana Padano’s first participation at Messe Nagoya, the largest intersectoral fair in Japan in collaboration with the Association “Le Mappe dei Tesori d’Italia.” “Promotion abroad – explains Nicola Cesare Baldrighi, President of the Consorzio Tutela Grana Padano – represents for us a fundamental strategic activity, to which we devote significant effort and resources. In 2013, we exported a total of over 1.5 million cheese forms, 34% of the total Grana Padano produced (4,565,337 forms). This makes Grana Padano the most consumed cheese PDO in the world. Japan – concludes Baldrighi – is one of the foreign countries where we have already worked with the training and information of operators and stakeholders. In 2014, after an absence that lasted a few years, we decided to return to invest in this market, in which, given our minimal spending commitments so far, results have been encouraging. In 2013, we exported over 31,500 forms, registering an increase of 5% compared to 2012. We are now waiting for data on 2014 to assess the promotional activities of the year. Judging by the success of this event, we have really interesting prospects, and certainly a validation of choices made so far.” (Red)
