Dec. 22 – Six thousand kilometers zigzagging from Rovaniemi (Finland) to Odessa (Ukraine): this is the book, by journalist and writer Paolo Rumiz, “Trans Europa Express” (published by Feltrinelli) that will be shown in a meeting with the author in San Petersburg at the Bukvoed library (Nevsky pr., 46) on January 23 at 7pm. The event is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute with the Bukvoed libraries network. The volume, which adopted the travel reporting genre, is dedicated to the long journey Rumiz made in 2008 from the Arctic to the Mediterranean, from the forests of Karelia to the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul. Crossing numerous borders, Rumiz tells of the territories and people met along the way. The writer notices geographical changes, and the continuity and rupture of traditional dishes, in a book that devotes considerable space to the people that live these territories, seats of fallen empires and cities of an unimaginable fate.
