Jan. 7 – “The value we bring abroad is Italy’s excellence in health care with immediate and visible benefits for citizens and organizations who work there,” comments Giorgio Moretti, President of Dedalus, a Florence group specialized in software solutions for the clinical sector. Dedalus in recent years has become an applied ICT hub, buying into similar Italian companies. The strategy brought the turnover to reach €70 million in 2013 with an EBITDA of €17 million and an income forecast for 2014 of about €80 million. Since 2009, Dedalus kicked off its international expansion into China, South Africa, Romania, Spain and Latin America and the Middle East. Dedalus has been operating inside China since 2012, in the province of Daqing – in the Heilongjiang region, northeast China – with the provision of a digital interoperability platform X1V1 and its related services. This system allows to computerize health facilities of the different municipalities, bringing them together in a centralized network able to collect and manage all clinical, administrative and individuals’ health data (ensuring coverage of about 3 million inhabitants). The innovative project improves the quality of healthcare, ensuring more efficiency and less waste. The project costs €6 million, and is already in an advanced completion stage; it is expected to become fully operational by March 2015. Other big news also arrived from China today: “We solved the problem of the interaction between an anarchic health system with an dequate solution, compatible with international standards and the functional demands of the Chinese Health Reform, which started in 2009 and is still underway. The solution provides for the progressive computerization of facilities and their subsequent grouping in regional platforms,” explained Moretti. “The Chinese market is growing and expanding – he added – and currently there are 15 more projects of this magnitude in place, as the Reform calls for the introduction of these interoperability projects across the country by 2020.” (red)
