Jan. 15 – Filming starts in Buenos Aires for “Chiamatemi Francesco,” the new film by Daniele Luchetti inspired by the life of Pope Bergoglio. In his new work, the director of “Anni Felici” and “Portaborse” tells the story of the Argentinian Pope. The role of a younger Pope Francis will be played by Rodrigo de la Serna, award-winning Argentine actor of “The Motorcycle Diaries”, while the older character will have the face of actor Chilean Sergio Hernàndez. Filming will take place in Buenos Aires, Germany and Italy, and will last around 14 weeks. To facilitate international distribution of the film, especially in the countries of Central and South America, all the scenes will be shot in Spanish. The theatrical release is scheduled for next November. In addition to the film version, the movie will be adapted for TV, and thus divided into two parts, and broadcast on Mediaset channels. (red)
