Jan. 22 – “My gospels are not four. We followed for years and years, the gospel according to De André, a path in an obstinate and contrary direction. And we can confirm it, note it: nothing comes from diamonds, flowers bloom from manure,” used to say Words of Don Andrea Gallo, the “priest of the last”. He passed in Genoa in May 2013 (at the age of 84); he was a priest and an Italian partisan, of both Catholic faith and pacifist ideals, priest of the road, the founder and leader of the Community of St. Benedict at the Port of Genoa. The Ligurian priest left a mark in society thanks to his spiritual strength, his commitment to eradicating poverty, marginalization and social exclusion. He was said to be holy and a communist, a rebel and a prophet but he preferred to call himself a man and a Christian. And on Monday, January 26, the Italian Cultural Institute of Barcelona dedicates to Don Gallo a special day. The event will be attended by the film director and writer Luigi Monardo Faccini (who has been interested in the priest for years) and producer Marina Piperno. The evening’s program begins at 6pm at the headquarters of the Institute (Ptge. Méndez Vigo, 5) with the presentation of Faccini’s book “Don Andrea Gallo, Ama e fa’ ciò che vuoi ” by the same Faccini. The meeting, open to the public, will continue with the screening of two films by Louis Monardo Faccini, produced by Marina Piperno: “Andrea dicci chi sei” and “Fiore pungente”. (red)
