Naqoura – General Luciano Portolano, Head of Mission and Force Commander of UNIFIL, conducted yesterday the tripartite meeting between senior representatives of the Lebanese Armed Forces and the Israel Defense Forces at the UN station manned by the Italian Regiment “Cavalleggeri Guide (19°) in Ras Naqoura, along the Blue Line, Lebanon. The meeting saw the participates debate the return of stability in the areas of UNIFIL operation. Portolano opened the discussion by bringing a message by the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, of concern for the “sharp deterioration of the security situation in southern Lebanon”, and inviting the parties to “refrain from any kind of action that could destabilize the area and work responsibly to prevent any escalation in an already tense region.” (9Colonne)
